In Massachusetts, an employer's failure to pay wages is considered a crime. The first step for aggrieved
employees is to file a complaint with the Attorney General's office. Visit
http://www.ago.state.ma.us for forms and
information on how to file a claim.
The Attorney General will investigate the claim and ensure you receive all wages to which you are
entitled. Sometimes, however, the Attorney General will decide that your case should go to court.
Employees who receive a letter from the Attorney General giving them permission to bring the claim
in court should seek counsel right away.
